The Experience
to Make a Difference

I’m running for re-election to the Meridian City Council to keep “Moving Meridian Forward.” For our city to continue to be one of the premier communities in which to live, work, and raise a family, it will take strong leadership and an unwavering commitment to public safety and thoughtful, responsible growth.
I’ve spent the last 39 years in key roles helping to shape public policy in Idaho. I know how to bring folks together to reach consensus. I give you my commitment to help lead the City of Meridian with integrity, transparency, and the utmost respect for the public process and the citizens we serve.

Priority Issues

Public safety – Our quality of life in Meridian starts with public safety. People want to live and work here because it is safe – safer than both the state and national average. We have seen what has happened in other Pacific Northwest communities that neglected their duties to maintain public safety. We will NOT let that happen in our community!
Our crime rate in Meridian is declining, thanks to the proactive work of our police officers. As we grow, we need to recruit and retain the best law enforcement professionals who are committed to preventing gangs, drugs, and crime from gaining a foothold in our community.
When someone in Meridian dials 911 because of a medical emergency, a car accident, or a fire, our Meridian firefighters are quick to respond. We have implemented technology and staffing standards that have improved our response times – especially when seconds matter!

Growth and Transportation – Thoughtful, responsible growth happens when everyone is on the same page. All citizens are given the opportunity to help develop Meridian’s Comprehensive Plan – a roadmap that guides our decisions on growth. That plan identifies the needs and gives our residents and developers confidence that the city will move forward with the right project, at the right time, in the right location.
I want to ensure that with our growth comes economic development that provides good jobs for our residents. With the healthcare infrastructure that already exists in our community, along with our medical education opportunities, Meridian can truly become the “Medical Hub” of Idaho. Those are good paying jobs that support the kind of families that want to live in Meridian.
Another key element to responsible growth is to ensure we are in sync with our transportation partners at the state and local levels. I will continue to work with the Idaho Transportation Department and the Ada County Highway District to accelerate the road projects that address our areas of highest needs.

Quality of Life – Our community is strengthened when our residents have places to gather and interact with each other. We have an incredible Parks and Recreation Department that has created healthy, vibrant, and sustainable spaces for present and future generations.
Whether you play pickleball, want to stroll or bike along a pathway, or read a book under a tree in one of our many parks, I want to ensure that we continue to expand our open spaces and the amenities available to families and kids in Meridian.
Through my work on City Council, I was proud to have recently helped the city purchase a substantial amount of land for a future park in the northwest part of our city. It was the most significant purchase of future park property in over a decade – demonstrating our commitment to the current and future quality of life in Meridian.
