About Brian Whitlock
Brian brings more than 35 years of public policy experience to the Meridian City Council. Appointed to fill a vacancy on the City Council in May 2024, he has worked with the Mayor and other council members in Moving Meridian Forward to become one of the nation’s premier communities in which to live, work, and raise a family.
A safe community is a successful community, and Brian has been a strong supporter of Meridian’s police and fire services. As the council liaison to the Parks and Recreation Department, he helped lead the effort to purchase future parkland in northwest Meridian. It is the first significant purchase of land for a regional park by the city in more than a decade.
Brian held senior staff positions for Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne, United States Senators Jim McClure and Dirk Kempthorne, and Mayor Dirk Kempthorne at the City of Boise. That local, state, and national experience has shaped Brian’s commitment to protecting the taxpayer first while still enhancing the quality of life for Meridian residents.
Today, Brian is the President/CEO of the Idaho Hospital Association, one of the most trusted voices in Idaho healthcare. He represents and advocates for all 51 community hospitals throughout the state with a simple mission: Keeping healthcare affordable and accessible for all Idahoans. He feels Meridian is uniquely positioned to be the healthcare hub for Idaho – providing good paying jobs and state of the art healthcare delivery.
Brian serves on numerous boards and advisory committees and actively volunteers with his church. He and his wife, Kelly, have three adult children and five grandchildren.
